Barry O’Sullivan (PhD, FEurAI, MRIA) is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science in University College Cork. He is a founding director of the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, and serves as the current Deputy President of the European Artificial Intelligence Association, the largest AI association in the world. He was announced in November 2016 as Science Foundation Ireland Researcher of the Year.
Barry has been involved in raising almost €200 million in research funding from national, international, industry, and gift sources, over the past 20 years. His areas of expertise include artificial intelligence, operations research, constraint programming, and machine learning. He is the author of more than 250 peer-reviewed scientific publications. He co-established and co-edits, with Professor Michael Wooldridge (Oxford), Springer’s book series on “Artificial Intelligence: Foundations, Theory, and Algorithms.” He is a well-known public speaker, commentator, and consultant on artificial intelligence.
